Modernizing KATI Report Drilling Software in Collaboration with PehuTec
Background
KATI needed assistance in bringing their KATI Report drilling software to final operational condition. The software consisted of an Android tablet application, a web application, and a server, but it required significant fixes and development before its actual use could begin.
Project Launch and Assessment
PehuTec’s expert conducted a comprehensive system testing together with KATI’s foreman at the beginning of the project. The testing systematically mapped out the software’s deficiencies and repair needs, creating a solid foundation for the work ahead.
At the same time, the software infrastructure was assessed and transferred to PehuTec’s management. The transfer was successfully completed thanks to the expertise of PehuTec’s specialists.
Development Work Implementation
Work began with high-priority deficiencies and continued with structural fixes to the software and performance improvements. The work was carried out in an agile manner, and all identified deficiencies, repair needs, and new features were recorded on a Kanban board to ensure transparency and efficiency.
PehuTec took comprehensive responsibility for project management, work estimates, resource allocation, and reporting, which enabled the client to focus on their core business.
Continued Development Phase
Once the issues listed in the original testing were fixed and KATI could finally begin actual use of the software, the project moved into the continued development phase. The software was further developed specifically to facilitate tasks for management and billing, bringing new user-friendly features and significant performance improvements.
Integrations and Extensions
PehuTec fixed the reception of measurement data from drilling operations in KATI Report. PehuTec’s expert worked closely with automation specialists to ensure that measurement data from devices on the machines could be seamlessly loaded into KATI Report.
A significant improvement was achieved when PehuTec helped transfer the KATI Analytics PowerBI software functionality directly into KATI Report. This way, the incomplete and difficult-to-access PowerBI solution became history, and important analytics functions became available to all KATI Report users in a single system. The KATI Analytics functionality continues to be developed as part of ongoing development work.
Maintenance and Continuous Development
PehuTec is responsible for the software’s maintenance and continuous updates. The work focuses on cost optimization and maintaining security, ensuring the system’s long-term functionality and safety.
